"Da più di cento secoli l’Imperatore giace immobile sul Trono d’Oro della Terra. Egli, il Signore dell’Umanità per volere divino, controlla milioni di mondi grazie alla potenza dei suoi infaticabili eserciti. E’ una carcassa in decomposizione tenuta in vita dalle scienze ormai dimenticate dell’Oscura Era della Tecnologia. A Lui, Signore incontrastato dell’Imperium, sono sacrificate ogni giorno mille anime di modo che non muoia mai. Durante la sua eterna esistenza, l’Imperatore è costantemente vigile. Guidate dal suo Volere, indomite flotte di astronavi da guerra attraversano i miasmi del Warp infestato da Demoni, l’unica strada fra stelle lontane, guidate solo dal faro dell’Astronomican, manifestazione del potere dell’Imperatore. Vaste armate combattono nel Suo nome su innumerevoli pianeti, eppure sono appena sufficienti per tener testa alle onnipresenti minacce di Alieni, Eretici, Mutanti e ancor più tetre presenze. Essere un uomo in questo periodo significa essere uno su miliardi di miliardi di esseri umani. Significa vivere in un regime violento e innaturale come mai ve ne è stato prima. " |
